Struggling to find filling and savory breakfast fare, I turned to an Italian classic to give the ol' porridge a twist.

Ingredients
3tablespoonsold fashioned oatmeal
1tablespoonground flax seeds
1-2teaspoonsgrated parmesanor more!
Lots of black pepper to taste
1-2teaspoonsolive oil
Instructions
Mix oatmeal and ground flax seeds in a small bowl. Add water just to cover. Microwave approximately 90 seconds or until prefered doneness, making sure to stop and stir halfway through cooking.
Top oatmeal with black pepper, parmesan and drizzle of olive oil.
To add protein, could add fried/scrambled/boiled or poached egg, or other protein like prosciutto. Could also add fresh arugula, avocado, tomato or other veg of choice.
