One Pot Meals – The What

No prizes for guessing that ‘one pot’ meals are those that only need one pot or pan to make.

Because my recipes are focused on 6-ingredients or less, they naturally end up meeting the one pot criteria.

But I thought it would be fun to have a section specifically focused on one pot cooking.

For those of you like me, who don’t love the cleaning up part of cooking.

One Pot Meals – The Why

It’s all about simplifying cleanup.

So you aren’t spending hours after dinner chained to the sink.

What’s not to love about that?!

Enjoy!

4 One Pot Cooking Tips

1. Use your pot / pan for serving.

It helps if your pots and pans are ‘pretty’ enough to double as serving containers so they can go straight from the stove to the table.

2. Line roasting pans

Whenever I cook anything in the oven I line the tray with baking paper to prevent food sicking AND for easier cleanup. It looks pretty for photos too.

3. Eat from your pot.

If you’re lucky enough to be cooking for one, try eating your meal from your one pot or pan. Saves having to wash up a plate or bowl later on.

4. Ask good questions.

Whenever I’m cooking, I ask myself ‘how I can minimise the number of pots I use?’. But if you’re following my recipes you won’t need to ask because I’ve already done that for you 😉

  • I have baked my veggies on the one tray, sweet potatoe, white potatoe, pumpkin, carrot, small onions etc. After 20 minutes half an hour I add broccoli, cauliflower, beans, mushrooms, corn rounds and capsicum along with sausages on top of the veggies with a generous handful of Parmesan cheese. Bake another 10 minutes, turn the sausages give it another 10 and all is right with the lack of dishes tonight!

  • One pot wonder – carrot soup! Made with a sick family member in mind, who – although skeptical of my offering at first – regained appetite and polished off the whole bowl. Delish, thanks Jules 🙂

  • My lovely daughter Gen reminded me that we are the 1 pot wonder cooks in the family, she too will soon be a stonesoup supporter…. This is the gradual conversion of a family?? to the Welcome & Comfort of Clancy Cooking
