  • Hi Jules, have been a member for a long time, but for last nine years have looked after my dad, could not cook wot I wanted. Hes gone now, so back to skool, have you ANY Gluten free recipes for pizza dough but small quantity for one or two pizzas?. Thanks Leon

  • Hi Jules, Ive been out of touch for a while and it was great to see all the lo carb options I had forgotten about. Do you have any ideas for green banana flour?
    Cheers
    Yvonne

  • Hello Jules, I’ve been quiet lately but I’m still here. I have a problem logging into the recipes. On the recipe page when I click onto eggs and tofu the recipes come up, but when I click on a particular recipe a notice comes up saying this page cannot be reached. This happens in all categories.
    Thanks Leonie.

    • Thanks for trying out Simple Meal PLans Marit!

Caroline will complete your membership and email you when it’s done

  • I made the amazing avo sauce this morning! I served it on top of whole grain toast with black beans and an over easy egg. SO YUM!!! Next time I think I’ll add some peas!!! Thank you so much Jules!!! Love, love, love your recipes!!!! Because of you I am brave and less anxious in the kitchen!!!

  • I’ve been paying attention to all the Naturally Healthy Club information, and trying hard to hear my body when my stomach is full. This week I’ve been sick, and yesterday lost my sense of taste. That has actually been a positive experience because I’ve discovered that flavor contributes greatly to our emotional connection with food and makes it harder to tell the state of our stomachs. It has been very easy to tell when I’ve had enough now. I need to pay attention to the size of servings that are enough and make sure I don’t usually eat more than that. The other amazing thing that has happened with the loss of taste is that I am no longer craving dessert. Not all that initially seems negative proves to be so. That said, without my taste sense, it’s more difficult to be inspired about meal planning. The actual ability to feel my body is far bigger and more important.

  • Cleaning tip
I have two beautiful stainless steel frying pans. That means many times they need some TLC. I put about a litre of water into the pan ( 1/3 full)…not hot, and the pan may have cooled after use. Then pop it onto the hotplate and apply ~50% heat …when it bubbles, turn off the heat. When its cooled a bit use a plastic spatula to loosen all the gunk and dipspose of that all as you think best. With the pan empty and looking fairly (90% at least) clean, I pop a small quantity of the glasstop poish cleaner into the pan and polish with kitchen paper..when you think its clean, rinse with cold water and look at the smile reflected back from the pan. No tough abrasives stuff EVER gets applied to the pan. Boiling to soften everything is just magic. Dont forget to turn off the hotplate!

  • Hi Jules!
I loved the color PDFs this week. They reminded me of your cookbooks that I downloaded so long ago and still use all the time. You should post the weekly recipes this way from time to time for a bit of nostalgia. The pictures are so much better, too – the detail and color are great.

  • Hi Jules,
I finally got some work and I will be away in a camp for the next week. I have taken in what you have been saying and I will just make the best choices I can. With everything pre-packaged because of covid it’s not always easy but I feel you have armed me with the discipline to do what’s best for me.

  • I’d like to cancel my subscription but can’t see that option – am I missing something? I see others asking for it too. Please let me know, thanks.

    • My assitant Caroline will look after this for you and email you Bec!

So glad to have you in Simple Meal Plans šŸ™‚

  • Hi Jules,

I will need to cancel my subscription for 2022. Please advise what I need to do to get a refund/cancellation if you’ve already placed a charge on my account.

    Thank you.
    Sharon

  • Hi Jules: I have admired your work for some time now but I chose the wrong time to subscribe, as there are personal circumstances that make it necessary for me to cancel my subscription. Can you please have someone contact me so I can do this?

    • I hope everything is OK Laura.

No worries about cancelling – I’ll get my assistant Caroline to look after this for you when she’s back from leave next week šŸ™‚

  • Hi Jules, I regret to say that I have to cancel my subscription to your site. I have enjoyed it immensely, but I need to make a few personal changes. How do I go about doing this?

  • Hi Jules,
I roasted cabbage wedges using your ā€œfoil packetā€ method. They turned out beautifully and delicious ?
    I’ve never cooked cabbage before!
I sprinkled the roasted cabbage with some Baharat spice and served with middle eastern seasoned pork chops. Yay me!

  • HHi! Is there a way to print the recipes with US Customary measurements? I’m working to get my sons to take a night meal prepping and it’s easier to print and make any notes (teaching tips) on the paper for them, but I can’t figure out how to move out of the metric recipes. Thank you!

  • Hey Jules,
Came home later than expected from a long beach walk and was starving!! Husband out of town so no firm dinner plans-eek!! Plan B Eggs and Spinach to the rescue! Just substituted kale – delicious!!

    • Fantastic Leesa! I had them the other day with sun dried tomatoes, olives and feta. So glad you enjoyed with the kale šŸ™‚

  • I used cheesy chick peas as a “plan B” dinner last night. Served it with fresh from the farmers market tomato slices. Plan B is a life saver!

  • I tried Mexican Eggs. Very nice! I added a little onion powder and cumin, and served sprinkled with grated cheese and a dollop of sour cream. A quick and easy breakfast after a long night shif at work. Thank you! ?

  • Heavenly Chocolate Cake is beyond heavenly – with a few additions of my own. I used cacao powder because it’s supposed to be healthier (not sure why). And I added a little whole wheat flour too. Also adjusted amounts of other items as I went along – by licking and tasting of course! It fills an entire 9 x 9 pan now. And I got a text from my husband while it baked telling me it smells so good and he loves it when I cook! ā¤ļø Thank you Jules! Sending pics of my notes to your email. -Kerry

    • Fantastic Kerry!

Raw cacao powder has more antioxidants than regular dutch process cocoa powder. And LOVE that your husband is appreciating your efforts šŸ™‚

  • I have tried and tried to change my email address to meryl.pelts@gmail.com. I have followed the directions in the confirmation email to no avail.
The email address you currently have will expire in 2 days. You must change my email or I can not continue this the meal plans.

    • I’ve passed on your details to my assistant Caroline Meryl – She’ll contact you to get this updated for you.

  • I would like to know if the carb counts you do are the net carbs? If not can you pls tell me the carbs and the fiber? I keep track of macros – they’re something from the Galveston Diet that I learned about.

Oh and the salmon pistachio with ginger cream was amazing! My son who is eleven has no idea that he’s eating taste-awakening foods that are super healthy. šŸ™‚

    Thank you. Kerry Cordero

    • Excellent question Kerry – I report net carbs. Sorry my website template doesn’t state that.

      Your son is very lucky!
      Jx

  • I need the carbohydrate values for the following recipes, please. Salmon with pistachio salsa & ginger cream; Japanese omelet with miso mayo; Happy nachos. Thank you, Meryl Allgood

    • Hi Meryl – the net carbohydrate value (if available) is generally under the instructions.

      nachos = 11g/ serve
      salmon = 13g/serve
      japanese omelette = 7g/serve

  • I just joined today. You asked why I joined at the start and I’d like to tell you more. First all the free recipes you give out on the emails are delish and they really helped convince me to buy a subscription. Second, they are easy, don’t take a long time and have few ingredients. I’m a mom who wants to make heart warming and healthy meals – not a chef – so that great. You’re a great encouragement in that. And finally? Your art is lovely and that’s important to me to me since I cook for pleasure and creativity.

    • Welcome Kerry!

You’re totally in the right place. I love the idea of heart warming + healthy meals.

The illustrations I use are from Johanna Kindvall you can see her portfolio over here.

Let me know what you decide to cook first!

      Jx

  • I joined Stonesoup about 4 weeks ago, although I’ve been following for 6 or more years. Until now I tended to cook more Asian style foods but I decided to try this out and signed up. So far I’ve cooked 12+ recipes, although I have not followed the schedule exactly, as I’ve gone back through the archives to use up ingredients I already had. I have not been disappointed with one recipe. Who would think cabbage with feta would be such a winner?!! Thank you for convincing me to become a member.

    • Great question Deb! Most recipes have a link under the ingredients that says US customary – click on that and it will bring up the measurements in pounds and ounces. And with the meal plans, when you generate a shopping list, make sure you choose the US measurements option there.

      Does that help?

    • Excellent question Nanci!

Australian bacon is cured and smoked as in America. But you can use English bacon interchangeably – it will have a slightly different flavour and texture but it generally won’t be a problem.

  • I have been trying to delete 28 sept collection. The duplicate seems to work but I cannot get the bin (delete?) to work (after clicking the ā€˜edit collections’ link. Is it me?

    • Sorry you’ve had problems Peggy

I just tried it and I was able to delete a collection.

      Click on edit collections
Then click the bin icon next to the one you want to delete.
Then you’ll get a pop up box asking if you’re sure you want to delete. You need to click yes and then it should work.

      Would you mind trying again?

  • Question – is there a way to move recipes form ‘old favourites’ into your inbox collections? I can’t figure it out!

    • Sorry Erin!

You have to do it manually – so open each individual recipe and click on the ‘add to my inbox’ text next to the little image of the recipe (just before the ingredients).

If a recipe doesn’t have the little square image it means it hasn’t been converted over to the new format (we’re working though this but there are 1500 recipes to convert!)

So if you have one that’s still in the old system leave a comment on that recipe, and I’ll prioritise getting it updated for you.

      Does that make sense?
      JX
