Cream butter and sugar in your food processor. Add golden syrup or honey and whizz to combine.
Fold in flour until just combined.
Roll out on a piece of baking paper until about 5mm (1/4in) thick. Cut out star shapes and place on a tray lined with baking paper (you’ll need 2 trays or do it in batches).
Bake for 7-8 minutes or until lightly browned. Using a skewer, make a hole in each cookie while they are still warm. Cool on the tray.
Combine icing sugar with 2 tablespoons boiling water to make the icing. Pipe onto cool stars to decorate. Allow to the icing to set.
