  • I really wish I could get on board with the way you use leftovers, but I can’t. I cannot fathom cooking, say 4 different things in quantity, and then finding a way to use those same ingredients to come up with completely different dinners. I would always know that they are the same ingredients, and I prefer some variety. I also find that while some leftovers taste fine on a second go-round, some things just don’t do well that way. I cannot fathom the idea that something like your abundance bowls would be enjoyable. Maybe it reminds me too much of the little pots of leftovers that we periodically had combined for dinner when I was growing up. Those were never pleasant meals. I don’t mind leftovers when I cook enough of a specific dish to make a two or occasionally three meals, but random bits and pieces tend to drive me crazy.

    • Oh Susan!
You’re making me laugh! It sounds like you have a ‘leftovers’ phobia from your childhood. Funny my mum hardly ever had leftovers so I guess I can’t relate.

Two thoughts – you can either completely ignore my ideas on this (and skip to the do ahead dinners module)

OR challenge yourself and actually try an abundance bowl just for one meal… you’ll either hate it (and confirm that you’re right) OR you’ll love it (and have a delicious meal)… nothing to lose really 😉

Either way – I really appreciate the way you share your honest thoughts here on the SVCS site. I wish more of my students were like you!

  • I love your simple, yet tasty recipes. It makes cooking a joy instead of a chore! I’m just glad to be here and get lots of tips from you, Jules! Thank you for your site. It’s a goldmine!

  • I’m hoping to get more comfortable with quickly cooking healthful meals for my family. We both work out of the home and getting our little one fed, clean, and in bed at a reasonable hour feels like a heroic act some days. Never mind actually teaching a healthy relationship with food!

    • Getting a little repertoire of simple recipes is key Sarah!
I’d recommend making a list of 5 recipes that are quick and that you’re excited to try and then take it from there

  • I have the lifetime membership and hope to start actually using it with this program. I am an erratic cook and am now cooking for myself which makes me more erratic. I want to cook more, but I do need the organization. I’m 70, still a meat and potatoes gal, and need to add lots more veggies and beans. But I want it tasty. Looking forward to this program

    • Nothing wrong with meat and potatoes Jane!

If you want more beans and veggies (that are tasty!) you’re totally in the right place 🙂

  • Hello – have joined the lifetime membership and it’s a lifesaver – I’m cooking for myself my daughter and toddler granddaughter – in my late 60s – have never felt better with this style of cooking – and my daughter who has chrohns is astonishing herself and her specialists with good health -I hope to become way more organised but already a lot of pressure has been taken off the day to day “what’s for dinner”- I love all the options you give with each recipe too ! Thank you

    • Wonderful Kim!

Good for you looking after your family so well! Really glad to hear your daughter is surprising her specialists 🙂

  • Here I am. Back again..still havent made prepping ingredients a habit
Just moved and jitchen has limited storage (working to correct that) which has resulted in insufficient clear counter space for elaborate dinners..need the help of planned mise en place or building blocks. Looking forward to the course to get back on track.

  • As I get older, more of my parts hurt and dinner every evening is wearing on each part. I want to organize to shorten the time (and steps) it takes to fix dinner so I can continue to enjoy cooking for my family. I am sure you can help!

    • Absolutely Sondra!
Simple recipes and prepping ingredients in large batches are the key!
Let me know if there’s anything specific you need help with

  • Hi Jules,

I just paid for lifetime membership (thank you for the Christmas sale!) The software took me to the organized cook. And of course, I’d like to cancel my monthly membership. Can you make sure that everything is as it should be. I just paid through paypal (12/13).

    Thanks!

  • Hi Jules

I have just now (1 November 2017 9.35am) paid with my credit card for lifetime membership at your special rate, but your website says I am only TOC (whatever that means!). Can you sort this for me please?

    • Sorry Virginia!

My membership software is a bit clunky for returning members. You took The Organized Cook (TOC) last year and it remembers you. All sorted now.

  • Hi,
I am single with serious health issues that would benefit from a better diet eliminating processed food. I never learned to cook since I was focused on a career and independence, so I want to learn how to eat well without that being all I have time to think about.

    • Good for you Patricia!
You’re totally in the right place… and cooking is really fun and relaxing if you allow it.
