I highly recommend the ham menu if you’re a bit nervous about cooking large hunks of meat. While it’s not as traditional as turkey, glazing a ham is practically fool proof.
But the real reason to choose ham is that it’s super delicious.
I can’t tell you how often I’ve been surprised by how excited people get by a well glazed ham. Expect lots of compliments. Lots.
NOTE: Save the menu to your favourite collections. Then adjust the number of servings for each recipe.
Scheduling + Timing
This menu is straight forward in terms of planning.
Both dessert options are better after a night or two in the fridge, so find some time to make in advance.
The nuts only take 20 minutes so it can fit in wherever you have some spare time. They will keep for a month or longer in the pantry.
The ham takes less than 2 hours. It’s great served straight out of the oven or after a rest for an hour or more, so you have a lot of flexibility if there’s an emergency.
The potato gratin OR the cauliflower can be baked at the same time as the ham on the shelf below OR you could cook them ahead and then just reheat for about 20 minutes in the oven before serving.
If cooking the cauliflower – the recipe timings are based on a very hot oven (250C / 480F). If cooking with the ham at 200C / 400F expect the cauliflower to take longer than the recipe – about 30 minutes.
And the broccoli salad is best made while you’re cooking the ham. You can either serve it at room temp or refrigerate and serve chilled. .
