It’s hard to go past cherries and chocolate for a dessert made in heaven. While fresh cherries are lovely, I must admit I prefer frozen cherries for desserts like this because they don’t need any pitting AND they’re available year round. Of course if you don’t have any cherries most berries will work equally well.

Little Cherry Chocolate Treats
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Greek yoghurt
- 60 g dark chocolate (2oz)
- 2 handfuls pitted cherries
Instructions
- Divide yoghurt between 2 glasses. Finely chop or shave chocolate and stir half into the yoghurt, saving the rest for topping.
- Pit and chop cherries and layer on top of the yoghurt chocolate mixture. Finish with the reserved chocolate.
Variations
creamier – replace some or all of the yoghurt with whipped cream.
different fruit – berries especially strawberries and or raspberries are wonderful.
dairy-free – use coconut yoghurt or whipped coconut cream.
sweeter – add a pinch of stevia or sugar to the yoghurt. A little vanilla would be lovely too.
crunchier – add chopped roast nuts.
keto / ultra low carb – just serve dark chocolate.
Problem Solving Guide
bland – next time use different fruit. For now more chocolate!
too tart – next time use a creamier (higher fat) yoghurt. For now, a little cream can help. Or a little sugar (icing sugar / powdered is best so you don’t get crunchy sugar crystals).
Waste Avoidance Strategy
yoghurt – usually has a shelf life of a month or so. Otherwise, have it for another meal like breakfast! Don’t freeze.
dark chocolate – keep it in the pantry.
cherries – best to use for another meal or snack.
Prepare Ahead
You can make ahead and keep in the fridge for a few hours before. Still edible for up to 2 weeks in the fridge but not as nice as when freshly prepared. Don’t freeze.
