Burnt Custard

From ‘And the Love is Free’ Print Book page 89
Sorry. Video and photo are not available for this recipe.

I was and still am a massive custard fan. Lovely on its own or poured over your favourite pudding, tort or even an apple crunch.

4 cups whole milk
2 eggs
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cornflour
2 tablespoons golden syrup

Boil milk. Beat eggs, sugar, cornflour and golden syrup.

Add milk, return to the stove and cook, stirring frequently over a medium heat until thickened but not boiling.

  • I have never made custard before and chose this recipe for its simplicity. And true to form, Jules has pulled it off yet again – simplicity and deliciousness all in one. Thank you for making my life that little bit brighter Jules!
