

These days, if I’m going to put something out as a starter, it’s most likely to be a big bowl of salted pistachios or some really great quality salami.
In the past, I was a big fan of good quality crusty bread and a bowl of my best extra virgin olive oil (sometimes spiked with a few drops of balsamic) and leaving it at that.
But sometimes it’s nice to make something different to whet everyone’s appetite. Here are a few ideas that won’t add too much prep time…
§ dukkah with olive oil & bread
§ warm butter beans with rosemary & garlic
§ crostini of smashed pea with mint & pecorino
